1980’s Selmer USA Model 162 ‘Omega’ Alto Saxophone #823XXX
1980’s Selmer USA Model 162 ‘Omega’ Alto Saxophone #823XXX
This is a one owner sax that was purchased in the late 1980s, and has not been played for about 20 years. Was kept in a climate control environment, so no funny smells or structural deterioration. Case is in good condition. Neck is in good condition, no pull downs or damage repairs. Low D# keyguard foot was re-soldered (Pictured). Several dings throughout the sax, and the bell lip has a visible ding/dent. Pads look serviceable, and the sax plays throughout the range, but would benefit from a service or overhaul from an experienced tech before gigging. No mouthpiece included.
The Selmer Omega Model 162 was considered the US Version of the Selmer Paris Mark VI – but it is closer to the SAII from the same era – has a similar feel and sound, but without the pricetag. Serial Number 823XXX which falls into the most desirable range for these models. Once they hit 824### serial the model changed to the AS110.
